Ruffle Invasion

Summer is almost over and if your anything like me then your looking forward to the change!

Fall is coming strong with some cool trends this year but one of my favorites, is the ruffles.

This fall look out for ruffles and I’m not just talking about on your shirts, ruffles are in for your shoes, skirts, bags, jackets- ruffle central! The reason I love the look is because it makes a simple outfit just a little extra interesting. If your a Plain Jain get smaller ruffles- perhaps a small ripple of fabric down the side of a skirt, if your a little trendier try the tiers of ruffles on a top.

Check out some cool ruffle looks below:

Christian Louboutin Pumps

Ruffled Tank- Urbanoutfitters.com $38

Ruffled Cardigan- Urbanoutfitters.com $48

Ruffled ballet flats- bananarepublic.com-$110

All these pieces are just an idea of whats out there- now take the ruffles and make them your own!

Xoxo,

FF

Sparkle me Sandra

If you didn’t catch the MTV Movie awards last night don’t you worry I’m sure it’ll be on re-run for the next month!

Watch out young Hollywood cause last night Sandra Bullock made sure she was looking hot to trot!

Obviously, my favorite dress of the night had to be Sandra’s mini sequins black dress paired with nude Christian Louboutin’s. Delicious!

Can we talk about the back of this dress? The deep V is so tastefully done, nothing short of amazing.

Sequins is hot this year and if you want to pull this look off you have to do it right. The dress stands alone, keep accessoriesto a minimal and don’t forget less is more!

You will survive Sandra especially looking this dazzling!

White Dress in the City

One of my favorite outfits from SATC2 is the opening scene when Carrie comes out of her building in the Halston Heritage white dress.

Christian Louboutin- $595

The original dress is a dress by Halston Heritage that will run you about $325.00

Aside from the Dress and the shoes, the accessories include a Chanel Clutch and a Solange Azagury-Partridge necklace. The dress and shoes alone will cost about $920.00.

If your feeling sexy in the city but don’t have the cash flow to spend like Carrie, XOXO makes a similar dress and Dolce Vita makes cool gold pumps:

XOXO White Dress- Amazon.com- $44.99

Pumps by Dolce Vita $59-$128 Amazon.com

Good luck finding your fashion inspirations!

 Always,

FF

Romper- Roo

Summer is around the corner and we’ve been lucky enough to start feeling the heat in the metro NYC area. With the warm weather quickly approaching looking good never seemed so tricky. In the summer heat, sometimes the only thing that feels right is probably wearing close to nothing and that is not FF!

I’m not here to introduce the romper because I’m sure you all know what that is. I’m here to promote it just a tad because of how surprisingly comfortable, light and cute this garment is!

“If you try hard, you die hard,” and the romper definitely gives off the, “I’m not trying too hard vibe but I still look good”.

After all, rompers were specially designed for toddlers & children because they were light and loose fitting and easy for children to play in. They became pretty popular in France in the 1950′s and were mainly used for little boys. It wasn’t until 2006 that the romper made a come back in the high fashion world, after its first appearance in America in the 1900′s.

Flash forward to 2010 and a quick romper history lesson- you’ve got to check the romper out!

Below are a few that I found that are summer and pocket friendly:

Forever21.com-$14.50

Forever21.com- $8.80

Forever21.com-$10.90

Americanapparel.net-$38.00

Try a romper out! You wont be disappointed!

Xoxo,

Dee

My Lucky Jeans

I have always said jeans were a splurge worthy item here at FF but in these economic times spending $200 on jeans just doesn’t feel right in my pocket.

Over the winter I had decided to test a pair of  Lucky Brand Jeans because they weren’t over the top expensive and because the fit was nice. Since then i have worn those jeans literally every week, they go from casual to dressy instantly and since spring is here I needed to invest in a lighter pair since the original were a very dark wash.

I went to the Lucky Brand store this weekend and am so excited to share my new pair of jeans with you.

First lets talk about the price, so I paid about $90 after receiving 10% off for giving my email address, the going price is $99. From a chic who usually splurges on jeans that’s a  huge deal!

The jeans feel great and the wash is perfect, let me also add that every jean by Lucky is handmade so every jean is distinctive from the other.

The fit that I bought are called the Zoe Skinny (they aren’t super skinny jeans more like straight leg)

Check them out:

Happy Shopping!!!

Soooul Train

Isn’t it such a good feeling to find something you weren’t looking for?

This morning shortly after wakening I found myself watching Soul Train, immediately I was inspired by the amount of color in the clothes, the swagger in the dancers is hypnotizing, the amount of amazing fashion in this show is ridiculous. I literally would wear everything these ladies had on, from the high-waist booty shorts, flower print rompers, gold-metallic ruffled dresses, so much sass.

Today, I’m not here to tell you where to shop, but to pay attention to your inspirations, and go for it! You are the artist of your canvas, do what makes you feel good and that kind of attitude is always FF.

Here are some Soul Train shots I’d like to share with you.

Little fashion flash back for some inspiration:

Spring into Color

I am a huge believer that your nail color as wells your clothing colors must go with the season. This time of year is always hard to figure out what colors to put on your nails since its kinda spring-ish but not really. I found a bunch of cool nail colors that are FF approved and obviously hot celebrities rocking a trend is an indicator that the colors are somewhat appropriate : P

Here are some colors for the inbetween season:

Neutral grayish/lavender

GunMetal/ Metallic

Russian Navy

Hot Pink (My Favorite)

Nude

Clear Coat

If all else fails, keep it simple, as long as your nails are filed and clean this is always a good look anytime of year!

Xoxo,

Dee

Alexander McQueen… Dead

My last post on Monday was about the fabulous designer Alexander McQueen. It was my first time covering the designer and I just heard the news that he was found dead in his London home on February 11th. He definitely has inspired many to be creative and artistic and know no boundaries when it comes to fashion. Just my little tribute to Mr. McQueen, your fashion will live on.
